🥖 Homemade cakes

📝 Ingredients:

  • 500 g plain flour

  • 280 ml milk (lukewarm)

  • 80 ml water (lukewarm)

  • 20 g fresh yeast

  • 10 g sugar

  • 10 g salt

  • 60 g butter (melted and cooled)

👩‍🍳 Procedure:

1️⃣ Kvass

Crumble the yeast into a bowl, add sugar, a little lukewarm milk and a tablespoon of flour.
Mix and let rise for 10–15 minutes .

2️⃣ Dough

In a large bowl, add the flour, salt, yeast, remaining milk, water and melted butter.
Knead a smooth, elastic dough that is not sticky.

3️⃣ Leavening

Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise for about 60 minutes , until it doubles in size.

4️⃣ Shaping

Divide the dough into 2 parts and shape into long loaves .
Place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, cover and let rise for another 20–30 minutes .

5️⃣ Baking

Preheat the oven to 180 °C .

  • Bake for 10 minutes at 180 °C.

  • Then reduce the temperature to 160 °C and bake for another 20 minutes , until golden brown.

After baking, you can lightly brush the lids with butter for a soft crust.

🍽️ Tips:

  • Ideal for sandwiches , wraps or breakfast

  • They stay beautifully soft the next day

  • Can be frozen
