Simple homemade Sachertorte – luxurious taste

Sacher cake is a dessert that is very popular in our kitchens. It has won the hearts of chocolate lovers all over the world. The traditional recipe can be complicated, but in today’s article we will show you  a simplified version.  This homemade Sacher cake can be prepared by anyone. The combination of a soft chocolate crust and apricot jam creates a perfect harmony of flavors.

The chocolate icing gives the dessert  an elegant look. This is a dessert that is perfect for a weekend get-together with the family or with an afternoon cup of coffee. If you leave it in the fridge overnight, it tastes even better the next day.

 

Ingredients

  • 150g semi-coarse flour
  • 150g dark chocolate
  • 150g butter
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 150g apricot jam
  • a pinch of salt

Frosting

  • 150g dark chocolate
  • 50g butter

Procedure

  1. Melt the chocolate in a water bath and let it cool. Beat the butter, sugar and egg yolks until foamy and stir in the melted chocolate. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.
  2. Mix the flour with the baking powder. Alternately fold the flour and egg whites into the chocolate mixture. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake tin, or one lined with baking paper. Bake for 40-50 minutes at 170 degrees.
  3. Let the cake cool and cut it into pieces. Spread it with jam and close it. Melt the chocolate with butter, pour it on the cake and spread it. Let the icing harden.
