For years, brown eggs have enjoyed a very flattering reputation. More “natural,” more “farm-fresh,” sometimes even considered richer or safer, they inspire confidence at first glance. Conversely, white eggs have a blander, almost industrial reputation. Yet, this difference in perception is largely based on our collective imagination.

The color brown evokes earth, the countryside, authenticity: a visual shortcut that influences our purchases without us even realizing it. In reality, when we talk about food quality or nutritional balance, the color of the shell is absolutely not a reliable indicator. So we can pay more for a product… without any real benefit on our plate.
